Four-year-old maiden Altezza is ready to pay a dividend for the first time on Sunday, judging by a fine gallop at Awapuni on Thursday morning.

Fast work during a light session was on the synthetic track or on the plough (good).

Altezza used the synthetic track and had her trainer Bryce Newman aboard over 1000m (1.10.4) increasing the tempo as she went to finish with 800m in 50.5, the last 600 in 37.3.

The Turn Me Loose mare has improved steadily this campaign, with two trial outings preceding a fourth and two fifths on race day.

She attempted 2100 metres for the first time at Otaki last start and will tackle the same distance at Woodville, much fitter for the task.

Her stablemate Uncle Arch (by Tivaci), not seen since the autumn, covered 800m in 51.8, the last 600 in 38.7, and Lets All Boogie was kept to 54.9 and 40.2. They are from the Newman barn as well.

Lets All Boogie, in the maiden 1400m (No 2) on Sunday, took solid trial form to Otaki two weeks ago and finished second to Aranui Lass. Unfortunately, the barrier draw is not in favour this time.

On the plough, Belle's Echo, not seen since the end of July, and an unraced stablemate skipped over 800m in 48.2, the last 600 in 35.4.

Basslock (by Shocking) and Edison (by Staphanos), maidens in the stable of Mark Oulaghan, caught the eye with 1000m in 1.3.4, the last 600 in 35.9.

Their stablemate Shockiff (by Shocking), not seen since June, did nice work on her own, clocking 1.2.3 for 1000m, the last 600 in 38 seconds even.

Woodville entrant Poppy's Girl (r65 1200m) and Graham's Pride were paired over 1000m in 1.9.9, the last 600 in 39.8.

Poppy's Girl wore side winkers for the first time at Otaki last start, but they will be replaced on Sunday by full blinkers.

Their stablemates Croix De Guerre (mdn 3yo mile) and Hurry Home (mdn 2100m) were not after time over 1000m in 1.18.7, the last 600 in 43.4.

Croix De Guerre was well backed on debut at Otaki last month and justified the support with a game second after travelling wide throughout.
