Members of Bryce Newman's Bulls stable and Awapuni maiden mare Shockiff were all in great form at Awapuni on Tuesday morning.

Fast work was held on the synthetic track or on the plough (good), with many horses heading to either Wanganui on Friday or Otaki on Saturday.

All of Newman's horses used the synthetic track, with Only The Lonely and Vavoom the most impressive over 1000m in 1.6.2, clocking 49.4 for the final 800m, the last 600 in 35.7.

Only The Lonely (by Tivaci) was an eye-catching maiden winner at Otaki on Boxing Day and has not raced since, but the filly is ready to carry on where she left off on Friday.

Race rival Vavoom has had two races in a new campaign and looks ready to strike as well.

Their stablemates Altezza and Blue Jeanie, rivals in the r65 2060m, were paired over 1000m in 1.5.8, with the final 800m taking 49.5, the last 600 in 36.6.

Treat Yourself (mdn 2060m) and unraced three-year-old filly Oceans (by Ocean Park), two more from that barn, ran 1000m in 1.8.7, the last 600 in 36.9.

Asahi worked alone over 1000m in 1.4.4 and finished with 800m in 49.8, the last 600 in 37.2. Zackery recorded 1.7.3 and 38.3.

Unraced two-year-old fillies Niemi (by Microphone) and Holy Hecka (by Invader) ran 1000m in 1.11.2, the last 600 in 40.2, and they are with Peter Didham.

Smart three-year-old Wingman and unraced three-year-old Reservoir (by El Roca) were kept to 1000m in 1.17.1 and 42.5.

All other gallops were on the plough, where six-year-old mare Shockiff sped over 1000m in 1.1.6, the last 600 in 35.9. She looks a definite winning chance on Friday (mdn 2060m).

Havarti and Lemaitre matched strides over 1000m in 1.4.6, the last 600 in 36.3, while Linara and Croix de Guerre posted 1.6.2 and 36.9.

Mr Miyagi (mdn 1360m) and unraced three-year-old Platinumrevolution  (by Shocking) covered 1000m in 1.4.2, the last 600 in 37.1.

Top jumpers Berry The Cash and West Coast were timed 1000m in 1.4.7, the last 600 in 37.3, while their stablemates Semper Magico and Super Flash did 1.5.9 and 37.7.

Avondale Cup prospect Sailor Jack had co-trainer Hazel Fannin aboard when working right-handed over 1000m in 1.5.4, the last 600 in 38.9.

Tauherenikau debut-winning two-year-old War Princess and Shameless Star were locked together throughout 1000m in 1.7.6, the last 600 in 38.5, and The Scunner went alone in 1.8.5 and 38.7.

Manifique, another heading to the Avondale Cup on Saturday, and Danjuro worked right-handed over 1000m in 1.7.5, the last 600 in 39.7.

Kalinya did even work over 1000m in 1.8.1, the last 600 in 39.6, while Call A Friend and Pepeha were kept to 800m in 56.2, the last 600 in 40.4.

Unraced geldings Freedom Fighter (by Turn Me Loose) and John Doe (by Derryn) ran 800m in 57.8, the last 600 in 40.9. They are with Mark Oulaghan.

Jack Morrison was kept to 1000m in 1.15.5, the last 600 in 42.5, while Honoka and a King Of Comedy two-year-old ended with 44.4. French Doll posted a quiet 46.7.
