Maiden mare Casta Shadow drew attention to her prospects at Wanganui on Saturday when she galloped solidly at Awapuni on Thursday morning.

The majority of fast work was held on the new course proper, where Casta Shadow (mdn 1340m) reeled off 800m in 50.5, the last 600 in 35.7.

The four-year-old has raced only three times in the last 11 months, but ran an improver's sixth when resuming at Woodville two weeks ago.

Testing was another to work alone and covered 1000m in 1.9 even, sprinting the last 600 in 36.3. She had her excuses at Tauherenikau last start and will race at Wanganui (r75 1200m) with a shadow roll added to the gear.

Sethsational (by Super Seth) and Golden Ace (by Ace High) were sent 800m in 50.8, the last 600 in 36 seconds even.

Sethsational finished fourth in a five-horse juvenile at Tauherenikau last Sunday week after travelling three wide throughout, while unraced three-year-old Golden Ace has been placed at the Levin jump-outs.

Two unraced maidens by Almanzor and Contributer, trained by Bryce Newman, ran 800m in 52.6, the last 600 in 37.2.

Last-start maiden winner Kawakawa and stablemate Dazz (by Microphone) were paired over 800m in 52.4, the last 600 in 37.8. Dazz won on debut at Waverley in April, but has not raced since.

Two-year-old filly Tifosi (by Super Seth), who placed third on debut last Sunday week, had stablemate Street Appeal (by Ardrossan) for a partner over 800m in 52.9, the last 600 in 37.3. They are Newman stable.

Turn It Up gathered speed from the 1000m (1.14.5) to finish with 600m in 37.9, while her stablemates Too Sweet and Wingman clocked 1.9.1 and 38 seconds even.

Sloshed was too quick for unraced five-year-old Anderson Bridge (by Savabeel) over 800m in 52.8, the last 600 in 38.5.

Wanganui acceptor Lucullan (r65 1200m) was kept to 800m in 55.8, the last 600 in 37.6, after a quick time in company on Tuesday.

Jazlene was timed 800m in 54.3, the last 600 in 38.1, and Zackery, in at Wanganui (r65 2040m), was kept to 55.1 and 39 seconds even.

Foxton trial winner Top Of The Pack (by Ace High) and Molly's Belt (by Super Seth), placed in two trials, ran 800m in 55.2, the last 600 in 39.1. They are trained by the Gray partnership.

Wanganui acceptor Velton (r75 1200m) worked alone over a quiet 800m in 57.4, the last 600 in 39.2, while Sand Point and All In Navy went together in 55.7 and 40.6. Kereti (r75 1200m) took 58.4 and 40.9.

Altezza (r65 2040m) ended with 600m in 40 seconds even, East End Lad (r65 1200m) in 42.1, and Blue Jeanie (r65 mile) in 43.5.

On the plough, Redana (r65 2040m) sped over 1000m in 1.3.1, the last 600 in 36.6, and she is an upset chance on that gallop.
