Farravallo looked on song for another victory at Otaki on Saturday when he galloped in fine style on his own at Awapuni on Tuesday morning.

Fast work was held against the rail on the new course proper, the plough or on the synthetic track.

Farravallo used the course proper and reeled off 1000m in 1.5.5, the last 600 in 35.9, and was keen to go faster.

The Belardo gelding is fourth race into a new campaign, with good form going into the open 1100m on Saturday, and won the same race last year when it was 1200 metres.

Meanwhile, Durham Lad and My Alibi gathered speed from the 1000m (1.9.9) to finish with 600 in 36.7, followed by Benefactor and Deadly Pony in 1.7.7, the last 600 in 37.2. All four were nominated for Otaki.

Kereti and Papa Surf matched strides over 1000m in 1.5.5, the last 600 in 37.4, followed by Ryder Stakes candidates Platinum Diamond and Brutiful Lass in 1.6.4 and 37.5.

Top jumpers Berry The Cash and West Coast, both heading to the Grand National meeting next week, were timed 1000m in 1.8.1, the last 600 in 37.7.

Fellow Grand National hope Jesko and stablemate Sweet Ada, both acceptors for Waverley on Friday, ran 1000m in 1.10.1, the last 600 in 38.5, and Sotirio went alone in 1.12.9 and 38.8.

Smart two-year-old Bona Sforza gathered speed from the 800m and finished with 600 in 39.1. She won the Welcome Stakes at Riccarton in April.

Too Sweet and a Hello Youmzain filly were kept to three-quarter pace.

On the plough, Lydia Pickford's four-year-old Zed mare Andjustlikethat, in at Waverley on Friday, covered 800m in 49.6, the last 600 in 36.1. It was nice work.

Semper Magico, another in on Friday (r75 2200m), did a quiet round before galloping 1000m in 1.3.4, the last 600 in 37.3. He already has winning form at the distance.

Keepz Occurring left 1000m behind in 1.7.7, the last 600 in 39.1, and steeplechaser Kentucky Boy, in similar work, took 1.8.1 and 40.3.

Lady Performer, a last-start winner at Hawera, was timed 800m in 52.1, the last 600 in 38.4, and her stablemate Textbook, another from the Pickford barn, ended with 600m in 40.6. He is an acceptor for Waverley.

Crouch and Craftsman were paired over 1000m in 1.12.5, the last 600 in 40.5, while Super Spirit and Super Flash clocked 1.12.5 and 41.1. Fourty Eight posted 1.12.8 and 42.7.

On the synthetic track, Wingman and In The Air (by Embellish) sprinted 600m in 40.6, while a Harry Angel gelding and a Supido colt, both trained by Mike Breslin, recorded 43.2.
