Jack Morrison looked ready to keep his synthetic track record intact when he worked boldly at Awapuni on Thursday morning.

Fast work during another quiet gallop session was on the synthetic track or on the plough.

Jack Morrison used the synthetic track and worked alone over a strong 1000m in 1.5.5, coming the final 800m in 50.8, the last 600 in 37.5.

The lightly raced gelding has started only 10 times, but has won three races, all on the synthetic track at Awapuni last year. He won them in succession, once over 1400 metres and the last two twice over 1700 metres.

In-form apprentice jockey Amber Riddell will claim 3kg when reunited with him on Sunday ( r74 1700m). She has ridden the Darci Brahma gelding in two Foxton trials and was aboard when the horse resumed at Trentham three weeks ago.

Meanwhile, Lantern Way had Jonathan Riddell in the saddle over 1000m in 1.9.5, with the final 800m taking 52.9, the last 600 in 39.3.

Sunday entrants Cry Baby (r63 2140m) and Share Power (r80 1400m), both trained by Deborah Parry, went 800m together in 52.8, the last 600 in 39.4. Amber Riddell will ride Cry Baby with a 3kg claim, and Madan Singh has been engaged for Share Power.

Wonderboy (by Sacred Falls), trained by Roydon Bergerson, was kept to 600m in 44.3, and he has not raced since the spring.

On the plough, Semper Magico did nice work over 1000m in 1.9.9 and finished with 800m in 51.6, the last 600 in 36.9.

His stablemate Kentucky Boy posted 1.9.2 and 52.6, the last 600 in 40.3, while Pinkerton, another from the Oulaghan barn, ended with 800m in 53.1 and 40.2.

Super Gold, off to the Taranaki meeting on Saturday, had trainer Nicky Goss aboard over a quiet round and a half before galloping an easy 800m in 57.3, the last 600 in 40.9. He galloped impressively on Tuesday.
