Class mare Manifique looked set for Wellington on Saturday when she galloped solidly at Awapuni on Tuesday morning.

Fast work during a quiet session was on the plough or the synthetic track.

Manifique and stablemate Danjuro used the plough and matched strides over 1000m in 1.3.2, coming the final 800m in 50.3, the last 600 in 37.6.

Manifique has had two runs under the belt since returning to work, the latest of which was a second at Trentham three weeks ago.

In a new campaign, Danjuro has recorded two seconds and a third, but he was disappointing at Otaki on Boxing Day when stepping up to 2300 metres.

Last-start maiden winner Goddess, heading to Trentham (r65 2100), covered 1000m in 1.6.1, with the final 800m taking 51.6, the last 600 in 37.9.

She has been a work in progress, but blinkers going on in training and then at the races worked the oracle at Wanganui two weeks ago.

Linara, another last-start maiden winner, galloped with David Goldsbury-trained Tomintoul over 1000m in 1.6.7 and 51.9, the last 600 in 37.5.

Tomintoul, an unraced three-year-old by Tivaci, came from behind in the gallop to be ahead at the finish.

Three-year-old filly Pleasing, who has not raced since finishing out of the money in the Gold Trail Stakes at Hastings in September, was given an easy 800m in 59.3, the last 600 in 40.8.

Victortheinflictor, fourth at Tauherenikau last Thursday, was kept to an easy 800m, the last 600 in 44.1.

On the synthetic track, four-year-old mare Our Giulia (by Savabeel) and unraced three-year-old Reservoir (El Roca) went together over 800m in 52.4, the last 600 in 36.7.

Trentham entrant Omega Boy (r65 1400m), narrowly beaten there last start, had stablemate Felucca for a partner over 1000m in 1.5.4, covering the final 800m in 49.9, the last 600 in 37.2.

Felucca won a maiden race at Tauherenikau early last month, then finished out of the money in the Eulogy Stakes at Trentham.

Maiden four-year-old Chance Taken, running fair races in a new campaign, was timed 800m in 52.4, the last 600 in 39.5.
