He steps up to the mile at Wanganui on Sunday, but will appreciate some give in the ground. Awapuni apprentice Toni Davies (a3) rides him for the first time.
Meanwhile, Thrilling (3yo mile) and stablemate Identikit (r65 mile) gathered speed from the 1000m to finish with 800m in 52.6, the last 600 in 38.6. Last-start winner French Doll (r65 mile) recorded 53.7 and 38.8.
Craftsman (by Alamosa), who has not raced since mid-December, ran 1000m in 1.11.8, with the final 800m taking 53.2, the last 600 in 38.7.
Sweet Ada and unraced four-year-old stablemate The Precursor (by St Jean) covered 1000m in 1.8.4, clocking 53.7 for the final 800m, the last 600 in 39 seconds even.
Platinum Rover (by Proisir), unplaced on debut three weeks ago, and an unraced three-year-old maiden by Sneaking To Win ran 1000m in 1.8.9, completing the final 800m in 53,7, the last 600 in 39.2.
Platinum Goddess and Rithim, in similar work over the same distance, came up with 1.9.1 and 53.6, the last 600 in 39.4.
Platinum Goddess is down to debut at Wanganui on Sunday (mdn 1350m) with Ace Lawson-Carroll claiming a kilo.
Their stablemate Platinum Designs (r65 1200m), who drew the outside gate on Sunday, gathered speed from the 1000m mark (1.15.0) to run his final 800m in 57 seconds even, the last 600 in 41.1.
Last-start Waverley winner Super Flash did similar work, with 1000m in 1.10.7 and 56.1, the last 600 in 41 seconds even.
Unraced two-year-old gelding All In Navy (by Alamosa) did 800m in 56.2, the last 600 in 41.3, and Good Craic went 56.1 and 42.9.
Platinum Mission (by Wyndspelle) and Prostatic (by Proisir), unraced three-year-olds with Lisa Latta, ended with 43.3, and Pinkerton posted a quiet 44.9.
On the new course proper, Saturday's Travis Stakes contender Town Cryer did nice work over 1000m in 1.8.3, finishing off nicely with 800m in 51.3, the last 600 in 37.7.
Joe Doyle takes the mount at Te Rapa and has ridden the mare once before for a second in an open mile at Trentham 18 months ago.
On the synthetic track, She's Cool (by Circus Maximus) and a Vespa-Denlee filly, unraced two-year-olds with Peter Didham, sprinted 600m in 37.5.
