Smokin Mo, Flying Celebration and Navy Bride all looked on song for pending engagements this Friday with bold final trials at Awapuni on Tuesday morning.

Fast work was held on the plough (good) or on the synthetic track, with the majority of horses timed heading to Otaki on Friday or Awapuni on Sunday.

Smokin Mo used the plough and had trainer Ashley Meadows aboard over 1000m in 1.4.5, with the final 800m taking 50.2, the last 600 in 36.7.

Smokin Mo was the headline horse in Tuesday trackwork two weeks ago and has continued to gallop solidly in preparation for a resuming run on Friday (r65 mile).

Flying Celebration (r75 mile) and stablemate Navy Bride (mdn mile) were paired over 1000m in 1.4.5 as well, covering the final 800m in 50.8, the last 600 in 36.8.

Flying Celebration, a dual winner in Australia last winter, showed his readiness to resume on a good note when winning at the Foxton trials three weeks ago, and has trained on well.

She will wear pacifiers on Friday, while Navy Bride will have side winkers off, and blinkers on.

Castletown Stakes entrant Brutiful Lass and Enchanted matched strides over 1000m in 1.5.1, the last 600 in 37.2, while their stablemates Knickerless (r65 mile) and Love Janie took 1.5.7 and 37.8. Bee Enchanted and Love Janie race on Sunday.

Redana, another in Friday's r65 mile, did good work on her own over 1000m in 1.8.2, the last 600 in 37.7, and she is an outside chance if she escapes the ballot box.

Poppy's Girl (r65 1200m) and Sweet Ada (mdn 2100m) could not be timed the full distance over 1000m, but ended with 800m in 51.1, the last 600 in 37.4. Pinkerton (Raukawa Cup) did 800m in 52.6 and 37.9.

Textbook (r65 mile) and Keepz Occurring (mdn 2100m) were locked together over 1000m in 1.5.1, the last 600 in 38.1, and Main Street went alone in 1.5.5 and 38.6. Jestin Case (r65 mile) posted 1.7.3 and 38.7.

Unraced two-year-old Bit By Bit (by Turn Me Loose) and an unraced Per Incanto mare, both trained by Lydia Pickford, ran 1000m in 1.10.6, the last 600 in 38.9.

Super Spirit did a quiet round before galloping 1000m in 1.7.9, the last 600 in 39.3, while Super Gold, in on Friday (r65 mile), did the same work, with times of 1.7.2 and 40.5.

Jack Morrison (Raukawa Cup) was not chasing the clock over 1000m in 1.13.1, the last 600 in 40.2, and Popsagoosey (r65 1200m) did 800m in 55.8 and 40.8.

Crouch, not seen since the NZ St Leger in March, did a quiet round and a half before sprinting home the last 600m in 42.7, and Lincoln Towers was let off with a round at three-quarter pace.

On the synthetic track, three-year-old maiden filly Turn It Up did a quiet round and a half before speeding over 800m in 47.9, the last 600 in 36.1. She has trained on solidly after winning a Foxton trial three weeks ago, and runs on Friday (mdn 1200m).

Unraced six-year-old Johnny Be Goode (by Puccini) caught the eye with his 800m in 48.2, the last 600 in 36.5, and is trained by Mark Oulaghan. Sotirio, who has won his last two in succession, recorded 50.8 and 37.4.

Sunday runner Sir Mikki had possible race rival Final Chapter for a partner over 1000m in 1.5.8, the last 600 in 37.9, followed by former northerner Andjustlikethat (by Zed), who went 1.8.8 and 37.6. She is now with Lydia Pickford.

Kana, in on Sunday (r79 1400m), was kept to even work over 1000m in 1.8.7, the last 600 in 39.4, and My Alibi did little more than three-quarter pace over 800m.
