Smokin Mo on the plough and six from Roydon Bergerson's stable on the synthetic track were star performers at Awapuni on Tuesday morning.

Smokin Mo had trainer Ashley Meadows aboard over a quiet round on the plough before galloping him 1000m in 1.4.4, with the final 800m taking 50.7, the last 600 in 36.7.

The grey mare has been making steady progress in a new campaign after a summer spell and looks ready to add to her career tally of one win and nine placings back to fourth.

Omega Boy and Victortheinflictor were paired over 1000m in 1.5.4 and they finished with 800m in 51.2, the last 600 in 37.5, while Coney Island and Deadly Pony recorded 1.5.1 and 51.4, the last 600 in 37.6.

Faustian Bargain did a quiet lap before increasing the tempo to run 1000m in 1.7.1, coming the final 800m in 52.1, the last 600 in 37.5.

Benefactor did two quiet rounds with a 600m dash at the end of each one in 37.3 and 38.2 respectively, while Textbook and unraced two-year-old Bit By Bit (by Turn Me Loose), both trained by Lydia Pickford, ran 800m together in 52.1 and 38.1.

Call A Friend and Craftsman were timed an even 800m in 52.7, the last 600 in 38.7, and Lady Performer, an acceptor at Taranaki on Thursday, did 1000m in 1.9.9 and 40.2.

On the synthetic track, Vitaci and Nadheema, both from the Bergerson barn, matched strides over 1000m in 1.3.7, with the final 800m taking 49.2, the last 600 in 36.4. Both horses have not  raced since the spring.

Their stablemates Turn It Up, an easy winner at the Foxton trials last week, and Testing ran 800m in 49.5, the last 600 in 35.8.

Charlotte's Way and Vee Vee, two more from that barn, ran 1000m in 1.6.5 and completed the final 800m in 49.3, the last 600 in 36.3. Showbastian Coe went alone in 1.9.9 and 53.4, the last 600 in 39.7.
