Ten-year-old gelding Lincoln Star may yet have another win left in him this Saturday judging by a very satisfactory trial at Awapuni this morning.

The majority of fast work during a quiet gallop session was on the synthetic track, where Lincoln Star r75 2040m) had stablemate Deadly Pony for a partner over 1000m in 1.6.1, the last 600 in 38.3.

Lincoln Star has not won a race for 12 months, but his form is not that bad. He will be ridden by 4kg-claiming apprentice Sima Mxothwa.

Time honours this morning went to members of Kevin and Stephen Gray’s team.

Former northerner Tears Of Victory and Amani did a quiet round before speeding up to run 800m in 49 seconds even, the last 600 in 35.8.

Their stablemate Cosentino went alone in 49.2 and 36.6, while Albarossa, another from the Gray stable, sprinted home 600m in 40.5.

Lantern Way, in at Wanganui (r65 1340m), worked alone over 800m in 54.1, the last 600 in 40.3, and Ima Brazen One (open 1200m) was kept to 56.2 and 41.4. Toni Davies will claim 3kg on him.

Gum Basher (r65 1340m) and Kana covered 1000m in 1.10.6, the last 600 in 41.2, and they worked stylishly together on Tuesday.

Bradman (wfa mile) and Charlotte’s Way were not chasing the clock over 1000m in 1.15.5, the last 600 in 42.8. Bradman, beaten narrowly in the race last year, will be ridden by Brazilian jockey Bruno Quieroz on Saturday.

On the plough, The Ugly Sister, trained by Mar Oulaghan, ran 1000m in 1.9.3, the last 600 in 40.8, and stablemate Super Flash took 1.11.6 and 43.6.
