Reign It In, Gum Basher, Danjuro, Shameless Star and War Princess all galloped in satisfactory fashion at Awapuni on Thursday morning.
Fast work was held on the synthetic track or on the plough, though most times were fairly tame.
Of the five horses mentioned above, only Reign It In (open 1200m) went on his own, covering 800m on the synthetic track in 53.8, the last 600 in 39.1, a time his trainer Roydon Bergerson was happy with.
His stablemates Testing and Turn It Up went 1000m together in 1.11.8, the last 600 in 40.3, while Sevenayes and unraced four-year-old gelding East End Lad (by Supido) did 800m in 55.4, the last 600 in 41.1.
In The Air and Fleeting Glimpse were kept to 800m in 58.8, the last 600 in 42.2, and Wanganui entrant Farravallo (open 1200m) ended with a quiet 44.4.
All other gallops were on the plough, where five-year-old maiden mare Chelsea Rose (by Sweynesse) sped over 800m in 51.3, the last 600 in 36.5. She has not raced since early May.
Wanganui runner Gum Basher (r65 1340m) and Danjuro (r75 mile) were paired over 800m in 54.9, the last 600 in 39.2. Gum Basher reverts to the grass on Saturday after mixed form over the last three Awapuni synthetic meetings.
Danjuro, who won two out of seven last campaign, resumes on Saturday after almost six months. He won an Awapuni trial three weeks ago and was a headline horse in trackwork last Thursday.
Their stablemates War Princess (Wanganui Guineas) and Shameless Star (mdn 1200m) did similar work together, in 55.4 and 39.6.
War Princess had just three races as a two-year-old last season, but one two, one of which was over 1200 metres at Wanganui.
She won an Awapuni trial three weeks ago, and worked in great style on her own last Thursday.
Shameless Star, who will have visor blinkers removed from the gear for Saturday, had just three races last term as well, finishing fourth twice. She won't be a maiden much longer.
Call A Friend, in Saturday's r65 2040m No 2, had unraced four-year-old gelding Al Passo (by Alamosa) for a partner over 800m in 55.2, the last 600 in 39.8.
Platinum Attack had senior jockey Jonathan Riddell aboard over a quiet 800m, the last 600 in 41.2, while maiden stablemate Port Chalmer, who won a Foxton trial last week, ended with 42.7.
Unraced three-year-old filly Juanita Maria (by Ardrossan), from the same barn, clocked 42.9.
